About Us

A specialist provider of support for people with learning disabilities, complex needs, autism and mental health conditions.

About Us

Our company

Afeni Healthcare is an independent provider of support for people with learning disabilities, complex needs, autism and mental health conditions. Our purpose is to deliver a high standard of accommodation and support services to people across the country, through solutions that are tailored to each individual.

We aim to empower people through our services, whether that means 24-hour assistance or just a few hours a week. Putting the individual and their needs at the heart of everything we do is what allows our staff to provide support that is genuinely person-centred rather than one-size-fits-all.

Our aims and objectives

  • To provide consistency, continuity and quality in our support services
  • To provide supportive assistance that makes a difference by encouraging independent choice
  • To develop our staff by offering challenging and fresh opportunities to work
  • To provide a stable and safe environment in which people can flourish
  • To work alongside and in partnership with individuals, their families and other agencies to build strong relationships

How do we help?

Autistic people and people with learning disabilities can face barriers day to day. We help by involving people in meaningful, enjoyable activities that draw on their own qualities and strengths, and by backing them to think positively about what they can do.

We also support people to learn and to work. We explore education and employment opportunities where someone can use their skills independently, with professional assistance on hand for the tasks that need it. Support is shaped around each person’s own preferences, which is what builds real self-determination and confidence.

Our values

We want to be the provider of choice for people who face daily challenges — helping them stand on their own feet and take a full part in their community, with support that has a real impact.

Everyone wants to live life to the fullest. Where communication or social interaction is difficult, that can be frustrating, so our aim is to build confidence and self-esteem so people can take part on equal terms. We take each person’s preferences seriously and make sure the support they receive is the support they actually want.

Safety

We make sure everyone we support receives equal care and attention, delivered by well-trained, experienced professionals working to safe, high-quality standards. Our safety policy is applied across the organisation and our services and programmes are subject to regulatory oversight.

We keep improving the way we work so it stays effective for the people who use our services. Health and safety experts carry out safety and fire audits of our accommodation, giving assurance for both the people we support and the staff who work there.

Incident management

We treat incident management as essential rather than optional. We identify risks and put preventive measures in place, and a dedicated incident management team reviews issues and their impact so our services become less vulnerable to things going wrong.

Compliance

Our services are open to inspection by regulators, and our facilities are held to national regulatory standards. Compliance is monitored internally so that standards are maintained between inspections, not just at them.

Internal inspection

We carry out our own internal inspections, analysing specific areas in detail, monitoring them over time and putting solutions in place so our facilities meet the requirements set out in law.

Why choose Afeni Healthcare

Experienced specialists

Our staff have substantial experience supporting autistic people and people with learning disabilities. They take the time to understand each person’s needs, anxieties and preferences — listening to their ideas and choices — so that the support provided genuinely fits. Every member of staff takes part in our training programme so their knowledge and skills stay current.

Quality services

We support people with day-to-day tasks such as eating, dressing and personal care, and just as importantly with activities that build skills and confidence. Our aim is for people to feel independent and valued, with support to learn, to access education and to look for work.

Complaint management

We listen to the people we support, their families and the professionals we work with, and we respond quickly. Complaints are handled professionally, respectfully and promptly, and what we learn from them feeds back into the service. Our full complaints procedure sets out exactly what happens and how to escalate a concern.
